ProcessInfo displays the concurrent processes running on any PowerMacintosh computer: Applications, Desk Accessories, Background Applications.

User Guide:

Launch the application

To select a process from its name:
- Enter its name in the Find Text field, and press the Return or Enter key.

To select a process with the mouse
- Click on the process line in the array.

To kill a process (to make the application quit):
- Use the Kill Item in the Process Menu or use the K Menu shortcut .

WARNING:

It's not a good idea to kill the Finder, Folder Action or Control Strip Extension processes.

To reveal a process:
- Use the Reveal Item in the Process Menu or use the R Menu shortcut .

WARNING

It's not working with tthe BackGround Applications.

To show the Finder Informations relatives to a Process
- Use the Finder Info Item in the Process Menu or use the I Menu shortcut .

WARNING

I'm not sure it will work with some type of processes.

To show/hide the historic chart of %CPU time used by a Process:
- Use the Show/Hide chart Item in the Process Menu or use the G Menu shortcut .

To display all the processes:
- Select the "All" Item in the "Show" popup menu.

To only display the Application processes:
- Select the "Applications" Item in the "Show" popup menu.

To only display the BackGround Application processes:
- Select the "BackGround" Item in the "Show" popup menu.

To modify the refresh period:
- Enter the new value and validate the input by pressing the Return or Enter Key. Or use the incrementing or decrementing arrows.

More Info about the Chart Mode:

A sample is taken every t second(s) where t is the selected refresh period.
This sample represents the percentage of CPU time used by the process during the t second(s).
This measure is far from greatly precise but it should give you a good idea of CPU usage by an application.

When the pattern of a measure is a mixture of black an dgreen, it means that the sample might be incorrect. It can occur for instance in those situations:
- While toggling between the Browser and Chart modes.
- You click on a Menu and you scroll through the Menu Item. MacOS is not a multi-everything OS so almost every process is stopped while you navigate in the Menu Bar.

Known Bugs:

- The alphabetic sort doesn't work with some applications. Strange, isn't it ?

- With a system prior to MacOS 8.6, il you click in the Show Pop-Up menu and you use the Quit Menu ShortCut, there will be a cosmetic Bug. It's a bug from Apple.
